Workshop features a curriculum unit including lessons plans, handouts, projects, and immersive activities that explore the social, cultural, and historical role of Cowboy Poetry in West Texas.

Curriculum unit guides the development of a Student Work Booklet.

Unit lessons include:

  • identification of primary vs. secondary resources

  • how to conduct research on different resource types and materials (photographs, journals, songs, sculpture, etc.)

  • a brief review of 3 different poetry styles

  • an opportunity to compose/ create based on research

Unit activities include:

  • peer share

  • immersive “camp-fire” activity including tangible and audible enrichment

Very hands-on workshop; leave with curriculum packets, digital images for classroom use, finished samples and freebies!
