Each year, our teen council hosts SLOW ART DAY at the OJAC.
Why Slow?
When people look slowly at a piece of art they make discoveries. The typical museum-goer spends only a few seconds glancing at a work of art- not enough time to really engage (discover details, consider context, make personal connections) with each object.
How Does It work?
One day each year in April, people all over the world visit local museums and galleries to slowly look at art.
At the OJAC, visitors will be presented with a Gallery Guide of questions and activities created by the Teen Council, and will find these students stationed at different works of art throughout the galleries.
Teen Council Members will engage visitors in thoughtful conversations and fun activities they have planned and researched. Visitors are encouraged to slow down, look, discuss, and enjoy!
