POSITION INFORMATION:

The Texas History Curriculum and Programming Coordinator is a part-time, contracted staff of the OJAC Education Department. The basic responsibility of the Coordinator is to assist the Education Director in developing and administering curriculum and programming focused on themes of Texas and specifically West Texas History as referenced in museum collections.

The Coordinator reports directly to the Education Director, who makes assignments in terms of broad program plans and objectives, and delegates independent responsibility for their accomplishment. All OJAC full, part-time and contracted staff work under the general guidance of personnel policies and observe the museum’s Code of Ethics. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working with Education Director, THC&P Coordinator develops and facilitates one virtual monthly outreach program for K-12 audiences, presenting topics of Texas History as referenced in the Sallie Reynolds Matthews Collection and Robert Nail Junior Archives.

Working with Education Director, THC&P Coordinator facilities the OJAC Texas History Traveling Trunk program for 4-8th grade classrooms throughout Region 14.

Working with Education Director, Coordinator develops and facilitates one In-Service Workshop for elementary and junior high classroom instructors, presenting lesson plans and coordinating activities that visually or thematically reference museum collections.

Working with Education Director, Coordinator identifies and contracts speakers for two Texas History-themed lectures for adult audiences each year.

Working with Education Director and OJAC Archivist, Coordinator identifies and contracts instructors for two Texas History or archival-themed workshops for adult audiences each year.


REQUIREMENTS:

K-12 Education, History Education, Museum Studies, or like degree.

Some Classroom instruction experience required. Texas History instruction experience preferred.

Experience in curriculum writing required.

Proficiency in basic graphic design software (Photoshop, Illustrator) and desktop publishing.

Excellent writing, speaking, organizational, project management and interpersonal skills.
