ART-TO-GO
Is your K-12 campus a 1 hour drive or less from the OJAC? Register for Art-to-Go, our free monthly arts and culture enrichment program!
A qualified educator from the Old Jail Art Center will visit your classroom each month of the school year to conduct a 45-minute, multi-part lesson implementing art history, art criticism, and hands-on studio activities inspired by your curriculum and artworks in the OJAC collection.
Monthly programs focus on cultural and social awareness themes such as Chinese New Year, Women's History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Diwali, Earth Day, National Poetry Month, etc. All lessons are TEKS aligned.
Art-to-Go Programs are always FREE to participating campuses! Instructor will bring all digital presentation materials and equipment (if necessary), as well as all art materials for studio activity.
Art-To-Go participating schools are provided with a full travel subsidy to travel to the museum during the final month of their program. This is an opportunity for students to explore first-hand the art and artifacts they have been investigating over the course of the school year. As with all Art-to-Go sessions, this on-site tour concludes with a corresponding studio activity.

Traveling History Trunks
Is your 4th-8th grade class a one-hour or less drive from the OJAC? Sign up to use our Traveling History Trunks, a free historical enrichment program! Each trunk has a different topic that is thematically tied to artifacts from our historical archives. The themes are Manifest Destiny, Tonkawa Heritage, Buffalo Soldiers, and Vaqueros. Things you will find in each trunk are lesson plans, books, props, hands-on activities, and additional resources on the topic.
A courier from the Old Jail Art Center will drop off the trunk of your choosing, which you will have for eight school days. Traveling History Trunks are always FREE to participating campuses! This is an opportunity for students to explore first-hand historical artifacts they have been learning about over the course of the school year.
